Imagine cycling over an iconic pass in the heart of the mountains of Highland Perthshire as the sun rises on the longest day of the year.
In 2016 Highland Perthshire Cycling will bring you a new road cycling event that will allow you to do just that. All you have to do is keep your eyes open long enough.
Welcome to:
No Sleep Till Breakfast
What is it?
Taking the sportive to a new level, this event will be like no other. 12 hours, 30 mile lap and one big mountain. The aim is simple: How many laps can you complete in 12 hours?
Who is it for?
If you are aged 16 or over, fancy a new challenge and can pedal a bike then this is for you. You can enter as an individual and challenge yourself to the absolute limit, or you can enter as a team of two or four and share the riding as a relay.
What is the format?
Riders will take to the roads of Highland Perthshire and cycle a set lap as a solo rider, or in teams of two or four. Riders will start at 8pm on the Saturday 25th June and ride until 8am on Sunday 26th June.
Tell me more?
The route will start at the Big Shed on Loch Tay-side and then head east towards Fearnan where a short climb will take you in the mouth of Glen Lyon. Riders will then turn west and head for Bridge of Balgie before the turn south; south, however doesn't mean downhill. This is the start of one of the most iconic, wild and challenging climbs in the UK: Ben Lawers. This climb takes you over the shoulder of the 10th highest mountain in the UK. It tops out at 1830ft after you have climbed for 5 miles and gained 1147ft. It truly is a monster of a climb. Once at the top the views down to Loch Tay are stunning andyou will have plenty of time to savour them on the 4 mile descent to Loch Tay before turning east and back  to the Big Shed to complete one lap.
How can I enter?
Entries will open soon. Entries will be limited to 300 riders in total. To enter you need to register with SiEntries. This can be done as part of the process of entering, or if you wish you can do this prior to entries opening.
